Compression Terminals and Clamp Connectors

Compression Terminals and Clamp Connectors

Both compression terminals and clamp connectors are used to form connections in power management applications. Different from standard connectors that are attached to conductors with crimping tools, these connectors are clamped or compressed onto conductors using hydraulic tools and dies. We offer clamp connectors, compression terminals, shunt wires, and copper-tube terminals in a range of styles and sizes.

With over 80 years of experience, Nichifu is a leading manufacturer and distributor for a wide range of solderless terminals and various electrical products. Our high-quality compression connectors are UL/CL approved to best serve your application needs. If you have any questions regarding our line of products, contact us today.

Clamping, Crimping, & Compression: What’s the Difference?

Connectors and terminals can be attached to conductors by clamping, crimping, or compression. Each method is used with different types of connectors to suit specific applications:

  • Clamp connectors tend to be highly resistant to oxidation and corrosion. These connectors are designed to seal the connection between flexible cords and metal enclosures.
  • Crimp connectors are squeezed onto conductors using crimping tools. These components can be insulated or non-insulated and are most frequently used in building, lighting, and automotive applications.
  • Compression connectors are typically larger in size to be used in high voltage power control applications. These connectors are compressed onto a conductor using hydraulic compression tools or dies.

Selecting the Right Connector or Terminal for Your Application

Our compression terminals and clamp connectors are manufactured using high quality copper materials. Click into any of the following categories to view available styles and sizes. If you are unsure which product will work best with your requirements, contact us, and we will assist you.

Clamp Connectors

Our clamp connectors include chamfered edges for protecting the wire as well as stamped lines to show the proper position for crimp dies. These connectors are compliant with branch wire sizes up to 700 mm2 and are available for use with clamp connector covers.

Compression Terminals

Compression terminals are highly conductive and are commonly used in applications that require extra secure connections. Our compression connectors are compliant with copper stranded wire sizes up to 1600 mm2.

Flexible Copper Braided Connectors

Flexible braided connectors, or shunts, are ideal for thermal environments where vibration is present. These connectors provide a low-resistance path for electrical circuits and are well-suited to high temperature applications.

Tubular Terminals (Sleeves)

Also known as sleeves, tubular terminals are manufactured using highly conductive copper, making them resistant to corrosion. Nichifu offers tubular terminals in single hole and double hole configurations.
